PROJECT: MSTS Routes
Cincinnati Terminal
I have always been interested in railroading in Cincinnati, Ohio so I decided to start a new project. This route will include trackage for CSX, NS, and the Indiana and Ohio railroad in the Cincinnati and surrounding areas. The route will mostly cover transfer runs between the numerous yards and lots of industrial switching. The route has been expanded to the north to include AK Steel in Middletown and New River junction in Hamilton, Ohio. I am going to target the March time to make a release. Currently the route is track only with minimual scenery (some bridges, trees, and a few signals). If you are interested in helping with this project, please email lavelle at belcommunications dot net - antispam address, replace as needed. I am currently looking for individuals that would like to place scenery objects. Folks would can create 3D scenery objects would be a bonus but not required. Current branches that are ready to be sceniced include the CNO&TP and B&O St. Louis lines.
Detroit Toledo & Ironton
As with the Conrail route mentioned below, the DT&I holds a special place in my heart as they ran through Springfield, OH where I grew up. I am working on re-creating the lower half of the DT&I from Ironton to Springfield. Current work has track completed from Waverly to Bloom Junction. Do not expect a beta of this route until late 2005.
Louisville and Indiana Railroad - Download (30MB) - Posted 08/03/02
The L&I (LIRC) is a real life shortline railroad that runs on 106 miles of former "Conrail/PC/Pennsy/Madision & Indiana" track between Indianapolis, Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky. This route for MSTS attempts to simulate and recreate the line as it exists today. This route is currently in a alpha release phase. The route currently contains 30 of 106 miles of track, extending from MP 19 to MP 41 including the East Columbus Runner and Camp Atterbury branches and contains minimial scenery. This route is currently under re-development using better terrain data (10m Seamless DEM) and more accurate track placement and regrading. There is no timetable for release. I also need to work on repainting the LIRC locomotive pack using freeware models and a better paint job.

Conrail Columbus Ohio Division - Download (12MB) - Posted 05/09/02
Conrail had a large influence over me when I was growing up in Springfield, Ohio. I would constantly see the big blue conrail engines streak through our town. This route will attempt to recreate conrail activities throughout Western Ohio based on the Zone Track maps that are available at George Elwood's website. The first beta for this route includes only track and terrain covering Springfield, to Urbana Ohio and the Mechanicsburg branch line. In order to use the included activities (except "Explore Mode") you will need to download my I&O GP7 which is also available from this site. This route is currently on the back burner while I persue other interests in route building. The route download is still being offered to anyone who wants to play with it. It could use some seamless 10m data and more accurate track placement.
Whitewater Valley Railroad - Download (12MB) - Posted 03/20/02
The Whitewater Valley Railroad is a preservation railroad located in eastern Indiana in the town of Connersville. I am taking a special interest in re-creating parts of this railroad for visualization purposes and training, since I am a member of this volunteer group. For more information about the Whitewater visit their website. The current download features mainly track and terrain covering from MP69 south to the twin arch bridge (MP65). The primary reason for this release is to get feedback from members of the WVRR. Non-members of the WVRR are welcome to download and provide feedback as well.
